A terrific value in age-worthy Shiraz, the 2016 Domaine Clarendon Syrah deftly marries fruity and savory components, blending blackberries and plums with black olives and espresso shadings. It's full-bodied and rich yet not overbearing, turning velvety and mouthwatering on the finish. From a high-altitude vineyard planted in 2003-2005 to cuttings from the Australis vineyard, the vines are trained to single stakes, as in the steep, terraced vineyards of the Northern Rhône.
